Following one of the winning proposals from the Józsefváros District Community Budget, development work will begin at the Mátyás tér park playground on October 5, 2026.
The aim of this partial renovation is to make the playground even more comfortable, safe, and enjoyable for children and their families.
The project will introduce several new features long requested by local residents, including a new entrance gate installed from the direction of Bauer Sándor Street, a toy excavator for children, and shade sails installed over the sandbox to protect against the sun. In addition, the existing sandbox will be renovated and expanded, while a new picnic table is also planned for the area and will be placed during a later phase of the project.
Important information during construction
During the works, the Mátyás tér playground will be partially closed. However, the rest of the park and playground will remain accessible and open for use, and pedestrian access through the area will be continuously maintained.
Construction is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026, and is expected to take approximately one month.
